Pigeon Net Price Per Square Feet in India: 2026 Rate Card Explained
Real 2026 pigeon net prices per sq ft by material, mesh and building height — plus the hidden charges, the minimum job value, and how to spot an underquoted job.
By Perfect Bird Netting Service ·

Pigeon netting is quoted per square foot of the opening being covered. That sounds simple until you collect three quotes and find a 40% spread on the same balcony. The spread is almost never margin — it is specification. This article breaks the rate card down so you can read a quotation the way an installer reads it.
The 2026 base rate card
| Product | Rate / sq ft | Typical life | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nylon bird net | ₹6 – ₹9 | 3 – 5 yrs | Shaded balconies, shafts, ducts |
| HDPE bird net (recycled) | ₹6 – ₹8 | 2 – 4 yrs | Not recommended — sold as 'HDPE' |
| HDPE bird net (virgin, UV) | ₹8 – ₹14 | 8 – 10 yrs | Standard exposed balcony |
| Knot-free child / pet net | ₹10 – ₹18 | 8 – 12 yrs | Families with toddlers or pets |
| Industrial / warehouse net | ₹9 – ₹16 | 8 – 10 yrs | Sheds, atriums, large spans |
| Invisible safety grill | ₹230 – ₹300 | 15+ yrs | Fall safety + bird exclusion |
Rates above reflect Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Raipur in 2026. Metro rates run 10–20% higher, mainly on labour and access. City-specific detail is in balcony bird netting cost in Indore.
How the square footage is measured
Measure the opening, not the floor. A balcony 10 ft wide with a 7 ft clear height from parapet top to soffit gives 70 sq ft on the front face. Side returns, the AC ledge cut-out and the duct face are measured separately and added.
A worked example
| Face | Size | Area |
|---|---|---|
| Front opening | 10 ft × 7 ft | 70 sq ft |
| Left side return | 4 ft × 7 ft | 28 sq ft |
| AC ledge wrap | 3 ft × 3 ft | 9 sq ft |
| Total | — | 107 sq ft |
At ₹11 per sq ft for virgin HDPE, that balcony is ₹1,177 installed. Any quote at ₹700 for the same job is using a thinner net, MS hooks, or is measuring only the front face and will re-quote on site.
What legitimately increases the price
- Height and access — above the tenth floor, rope access or a swing platform is mobilised and charged.
- Curved or split-level parapets that need extra cutting, framing and lacing time.
- Heavy existing droppings requiring cleaning and disinfection before drilling.
- Non-drill clamp fixing for rented flats, which uses more hardware.
- Minimum job value — a 12 sq ft window still needs a crew, a drill and a trip.
The five questions that expose an underquote
Ask every vendor these, and write the answers next to each quote:
- Is the HDPE virgin or recycled granule, and what is the GSM?
- What is the UV stabiliser rating and the stated years of UV life?
- What gauge and grade is the perimeter wire — 1.6 mm SS 304, or 1.2 mm galvanised?
- Are the hooks stainless expansion hooks, or plastic wall plugs?
- What exactly does the warranty cover, and is it written on the invoice?
A 30% cheaper quote is not a discount. It is a specification you were not shown.
Cost over ten years, not on installation day
| Option | Day-one cost | Replacements in 10 yrs | Ten-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheap recycled net @ ₹7 | ₹420 | 3 | ₹1,680 |
| Virgin UV HDPE @ ₹12 | ₹720 | 0 | ₹720 |
The cheaper net costs more than twice as much across a decade, before counting the disruption of three re-installations and the droppings that accumulate each time the net fails. The material logic behind that lifespan gap is explained in HDPE vs nylon bird net.
Pricing for larger and commercial jobs
Warehouses, factory sheds and hospital atriums are quoted on span and access rather than a flat sq ft rate — a 40-foot clear span needs intermediate cables and a lift, and that dominates the cost. We cover the planning in warehouse bird netting. Construction sites are a different product class again, priced with relocation built in; see construction safety nets.
Whole-society and bulk rates
When a society nets a full wing or tower together, mobilisation is shared across dozens of flats and the per-sq-ft rate typically drops 10–15%. Committees usually run it as a single approved specification so the facade stays uniform — which also solves the permission question for every resident at once.
Conclusion
Judge a pigeon net quotation on five specifications and a ten-year horizon, not on the headline number. Virgin UV HDPE, SS 304 wire, stainless hooks, correct mesh and a written warranty is the combination that costs less by year four.

Frequently asked
What is the price of pigeon net per square feet in 2026?
₹8 to ₹14 per square foot installed for virgin UV-stabilised HDPE, ₹6 to ₹9 for nylon and ₹10 to ₹18 for knot-free child and pet safety netting. Rates include net, stainless wire, hooks, labour and cleanup.
How do I calculate the square footage of my balcony net?
Measure the clear opening — width multiplied by height from parapet top to soffit — then add any side returns, AC ledge wraps and duct faces separately.
Is there a minimum charge for small windows?
Yes. Small openings still require a crew, tools and a site visit, so most installers apply a minimum job value regardless of the measured area.
Why is one pigeon net quote much cheaper than another?
Almost always specification: recycled instead of virgin granules, thinner 1.2 mm galvanised wire instead of 1.6 mm SS 304, or plastic plugs instead of stainless expansion hooks. Those substitutions fail within two to four years.
