Monsoon Maintenance for Bird Nets: A 15-Minute Seasonal Checklist
Wind, rain and debris are what age a bird net. This seasonal checklist keeps an installation tight and functional for its full ten-year life.

Nets rarely fail because the material gave up. They fail because a hook loosened in a storm, or a corner filled with leaves and dragged the mesh down.
Before the monsoon
- Walk the perimeter and press each hook — anything that moves gets re-tightened.
- Check turnbuckle tension along the border wire.
- Clear leaves, feathers and dust from the lowest corners where debris collects.
- Look for abrasion where the net rubs against a sharp parapet edge, and add a sleeve if needed.
After heavy wind
Look for a sag pocket — a visible dip means one fixing has pulled. A single hook re-fixed at the right time prevents the tear that spreads across three panels later.
Cleaning
Rinse with plain water and a soft brush from inside the balcony. Avoid acid cleaners and pressure washers: they strip the UV coating and cut the net's usable life.
When to call for service
Any tear larger than a fist, a corner that keeps loosening, or a net older than eight years that has gone chalky to the touch. Patch repairs on an installation still under warranty are handled free by our service team.
